February 2019 Honoree
ansley long, RN
Ansley took care of my mother in July for worsening CHF. Like many of us when we're anxious, and especially when we're facing our mortality, we can struggle with a need for control, and Mom was no exception. It takes a special mix of patience and emotional intelligence to meet those needs. Reverence is the perfect word. Ansley stood out among a very special group of nurses on 5Kidd. Her calmness was soothing, her gentle smile provided reassurance, and careful listening all combined for Mom to know that she was being heard, genuinely cared for in the truest sense of that word, and when Mom's physiology betrayed her sense of decorum that her dignity was preserved. These are the ingredients of an exceptional experience at a very bad time.
Thank you, Ansley, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
