I was admitted with a preeclampsia diagnosis and was told I'd be here for 6-7 weeks. Before I even had the opportunity to freak out, the nurses caring for me that first week made me feel calm and safe and made sure I was taken care of. That first week, Robyn, Francy, and Eleanor were the key to me not having any panic. They explained everything to me and helped minimize both my worries and those of my husband and family. They were extremely caring and informative and made sure to let me rest when they could.
Following that first week, I got to be cared for by the rest of the antepartum nurse staff. Let me tell you, they are all extraordinary! Cindy taught me how to crochet, which actually helped keep my blood pressure down.
Dalissy, Candy, Ramona, Mona, Liz, Tina, Shantel, Princy, Dafina, Cassandra! These amazing women were KEY to me surviving here for six weeks during the most nerve-wracking period of my life so far. They developed bonds, not just with me, but also with my son while still in my belly. He recognized all of their voices, and only cooperated on the fetal monitor when they stayed and chatted with me.
I truly feel blessed to have been in the care of these incredible women. Truly grateful to have been put in their care!
In addition to the nurses, I also want to make sure to recognize the PCAs who went the extra mile for me. Joy, Saira, Sarah, Dora, Mirriam and Julie. The antepartum team here is the most incredible team! I've already tried to get my friends to switch hospitals for their births in case they need antepartum care - so that they are in the best care!
