At the end of his shifts before passing to the next nurse, Anthony would come by to make sure I was ok.
From the moment I met Anthony he and I "clicked". I could tell he was a special person in his manner, his patience, and his ability to listen to my needs and worries. I felt completely safe because he was near. His special care and compassion towards my feelings and desires was unique I have never felt so pampered. If i pressed the button for the nurse, he would appear instantly with a big smile on his face and ready to help! Even at 3 in the morning.
Anthony was always able and willing to skillfully answer my extensive questions (some were very technical) and he did so by gathering resources from his own experience. He made sure to answer in a way I could understand. He obviously has much experience in stem cell and he made me feel assured that I would be fine. Anthony and I spoke of many things; as we became friends, our passion for traveling for one, and we shared stories of our times in Europe. He had me dreaming that I would be able to go to Paris again! Anthony spoke of what he did during his free time, for example going down to the keys with his dog and enjoying the sunshine. I felt so happy listening to his stories and for the moment was transported to a happy time in my life, making my hospital stay much easier to bear.
Anthony, I felt, gave me special attention! At the end of his shifts before passing to the next nurse, Anthony would come by to make sure I was ok. I could see the other nurses liked him just as much as I did and I witnessed the tram work effort in getting me as a conformable as possible. Anthony is a unique individual who carries the sunshine with him as he parades though life. His willingness to help, his compassion, motivation, and free sprit are what makes him perfect for the role he has chosen for his life. If Anthony could read this, I would want him to know that he made a difference in my life because he got me through the most challenging and difficult period I have experienced in my life. One in which I felt completely alone, with not even my family to hug. Thank you Anthony. Again, thank you, Anthony, and all the stem cell transplant unit on the second floor for helping me through this treatment without any difficulties. Because of all of you, I was able to come home a renewed person with new hope and clear vision of my future. With all my love and thankfulness, and appreciation.
