I first met Aparna as I started my night shift orientation and she was my preceptor. To me, she completed the designation of an RN. Kindness is the best description of her personality. She goes above and beyond to help our patients whether they are assigned to her or not. I remember one incident where my patient was scheduled for a TEE. The patient and her husband were initially hesitant about the procedure and after much discussion with the cardiologist they had agreed to the procedure. Aparna had this patient 2 days prior but stopped by to check on her. As I was passing by I heard Aparna explaining the procedure in a simple way. She spent 45 minutes with them answering their questions and clarifying their doubts. If Aparna gets caught up on her work early she always utilizes this time to visit her previously assigned patients. If there is a death on the unit she goes into the room and offers prayers. She is truly a role model for a new graduate nurse. She is a great mentor and enthusiastic nurse who keeps well updated on her professional practice. She recently completed her CMSRN. I would like to end by saying this...Aparna to me is an RN with a mission to help others, spread kindness and humanity. She truly is a DAISY Nurse.
