I am submitting this as a new momma who has been so incredibly blessed by the services offered through the St. Thomas Breastfeeding Clinic. I went through a traumatic medical emergency two weeks postpartum. I had an AVM in my uterus. My body lost a lot of blood, my milk supply decreased, and my baby was not gaining weight as she should. It was an overwhelming time, and I reached out to the clinic.

April Collins quickly called me and not only helped me develop a temporary plan for my child but also encouraged me and assured me that we would figure all of this out. She scheduled a consultation with me as soon as possible. And she did all of this outside of regular office hours. I know she was going above and beyond to help me, and I wanted to reach out and let you know how incredible she has been. My family is so grateful for her guidance and support during this time.

We have now been involved with the clinic for about a month. The pediatrician is pleased with my daughter’s weight, and my own milk supply has increased to the level that we are able to solely give her breast milk. From what I have observed during my time at the clinic, it is a place of high demand. I know the nurses there work extra hard to help out these parents and babies. I have observed April setting aside her lunch to help a client. Sometimes she is helping two moms at a time. And she does all of this with a smile on her face and in a way that makes you feel as if you are her only patient that day. All of this to say, as a first-time mom in an overwhelming situation, I felt that the clinic and my nurse April were both an answer to prayer. I truly appreciate this service and will sing its praises to others as often as I can!
