April Gillespie, RN

April Gillespie took care of an adult patient with very specific special needs. This patient was nonverbal and obviously very scared to undergo surgery. April noticed the patient’s birthday was in a few days, so once the patient returned to the Phase II recovery area, she brought him a birthday balloon stuffed animal and gathered staff to sing him “Happy Birthday.” The patient and his mother were extremely grateful.
