April goes the extra mile to make the patient comfortable – at ease – especially at the time that they are scared of what is happening. My husband looked forward to April’s shift as she could lift his spirit and make him feel better even as she did her duties as his nurse.

Additional nomination for same nurse

As tears still sting my eyes from losing may father last night, I had to take a moment to tell you what a wonderful angel you having working for you. April has went over and above anything the family ever expected from a nurse. People say that nurses that work at Hospice have to be a special breed and indeed they all were. However, April stood out everyday she was there to take care of my father. Not only did she always have his best interest in mind she also took the time to know each one of us, comforting us and making sure we too would be ok with the long wait ahead of us. April always took the time to update us but not alarm us on his journey. She made a promise to my dad that she would be sure he was comfortable to the end and she did just that. My father knew that April would be there and make good on her promise. Funny that he should leave us on her shift, or is it?
I think that April is an outstanding person in her work and that she should be recognized for all she does. Many times during my fathers stay she worked a double shift never complaining and always wanting the best for her patients. They all knew she was there to take care of all their needs and never making them feel as though they were a bother or a problem. Always reassuring my father that her job was to be there for him. A special thank you from the family. Please always know the job you do is a very special one and that our family will always be praying for you.
