April was recognized by a patient who was here for a little more than 10 days. He writes that he was able to get to know April well, as she took care of him for multiple days. The patient has had numerous admissions and interactions with a large number of nurses and April has made a significant impression on him. He relates that she was able to answer questions about medications and offered additional information about the medications he was taking and about his illness. In addition to having a sound knowledge of nursing. He wrote, "She demonstrated respect and compassion for me, the patient, but also for her coworkers. No matter what was asked of her she was able to get it done."

April has grown from a new graduate nurse into an experienced resource for the staff members on Ortho/Spine. She does relief charge, precepts new nurses and student nurses and has a wonderful rapport with the physicians. She is always willing to support the unit and the hospital as a whole. She was an active participant on the Patient Satisfaction team. I agree with this patient and see April as a vital team member of the Ortho/Spine unit.
