Nikki really knows what she’s doing and does it fast. I know as I’m a floor RN myself. My mom was a difficult and stubborn patient to have, but Nikki won over my mom’s heart and my confidence, and my mom became easier to deal with. Nikki even went above and beyond by finishing up mom’s 4-hour small bowel follow thru in the Dialysis room where mom was getting a much needed yet unwanted dialysis session on a different floor. Nikki looked at Mom while talking to her. Seems silly to say, but some staff talk “about” Mom and look just to me, leaving Mom out. That’s just plain rude. Mom has dementia, but since Nikki made such an impression, her name was never forgotten from mom’s dementia thinking/speaking. She was a true advocate for Mom, something a close family member can hold onto, so they don’t have to stay at the patient’s bedside 24/7. 3N has some excellent nurses and some really young nurses. Mom and I were extremely grateful for having Nikki as her day shift RN. I could breathe easier. Thank you, Nikki, for tending to my mother. You shine and are in the right profession. We loved having you as her caregiver on 3N. Mom is about to pass over here on the Hospice wing with only comfort measures.
