April was on the phone with a Veteran while he was driving to see his cardiologist without an appointment. After conversing, the nurse could tell something was not right. The Veteran refused to pull over and call 911. The nurse called the cardiologist's office and was told no provider was in the clinic that day. April persuaded the Veteran to go to Brookhaven Emergency Department, and she remained on the phone with him and assured he made it safely. A staff member reassured April that he was safe before she disconnected. She confirmed later that he received necessary care at the Emergency Department. The Veteran's family was grateful and very thankful! April's nominator exclaimed, April always shows her dedication and commitment to the ICARE values daily.
