April cared for my mother during two of the most sacred and painful days of my life in the ICU. What she gave my family cannot be measured in tasks or charting—it was compassion, presence, and love.

From the beginning, April allowed me to lay down my role as a nurse and simply be a daughter. In my deepest vulnerability, she carried the responsibility of advocacy so I did not have to. That gift is something I will never be able to repay.

April was vigilant and intuitive in her care. She reviewed labs, recognized changes in my mother's condition, and listened closely to what her body was telling us. She immediately communicated concerns to the physicians and advocated for prompt interventions, ensuring my mom received the right care at the right time. She did not hesitate. She did not look away. She stood firmly for my mother.

What makes April extraordinary, however, is not only her clinical excellence—it is her heart.

She poured herself into my mother's care, staying late and working long hours without ever making us feel like a burden. She was truly invested, not just as a nurse, but as a person who cared deeply about the outcome and about our family.

April was not just my mom's nurse—she became my backbone during the darkest hours of my life. We were in sync; she didn't even have to say a word. She cried with me. She stood beside me when words failed. In moments when my heart was breaking, her tears reminded me that I was not alone.

She remained present all the way until my mother took her last breath, ensuring she was comfortable and treated with dignity. Knowing my mom was cared for by someone who loved her in those final moments brings me comfort that will stay with me forever.

As a nurse, I understand excellence in care. As a daughter, I experienced grace.

April embodies everything the DAISY Award represents—compassion, advocacy, dedication, and humanity. I will be forever grateful to her, and I will carry what she did for my mother and for me in my heart for the rest of my life.

My Angel Mom will forever be watching over you.

I love you, April.

Thank you, April, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
