April guided us through, explained everything in plain language, and handled my quirky family with ease.
My grandfather spent 6 days in the ICU. We had April as our day shift nurse for 4 of those days. She is an amazing nurse and is everything that the DAISY Award stands for. She treated my grandfather with dignity and made sure he was comfortable and well taken care of. I had peace of mind knowing she was there for him and advocating for him. She stayed over on the day he passed to be with my family and guide us through this journey. My grandfather has a long history of heart disease, but he has always been resilient. This hospital stay made for stents 19, 20, & 21. We expected him to come out the other side like he always had. This time was different. This time involved sedation, blood pressure medicine, restraints, Bipap, and so much more. I am myself a nurse (OB), I have seen these types of medical situations professionally, but to watch someone I love have to endure it, makes it so much harder. April guided us through, explained everything in plain language, and handled my quirky family with ease. My grandfather despised the restraints and April advocated for us to remove them. I got to hold his hand, and that will always be what I remember from this situation. Holding his hand. April gave that to me. She is meant to be an ICU nurse; you can tell this is her calling. I will always be grateful for her and the calm she provided us during his stay. April also took care of my father-in-law the month before. She took just as good of care of him as she did my grandfather. I imagine excellence is her standard of care. Our community is lucky to have her. April- Thank you so much. You have no idea how you helped us during this process
