April truly has the heart of a servant
April Wainwright is not only an exceptional Nurse but always takes the initiative to go above and beyond in the support of her coworkers and others. In times of hardship or loss on our unit, April has taken the initiative to organize gift baskets, meal trains, and cards to show support and care for the members on our unit. When April hears of a need, she is the first to implement a plan and see it through. April truly has the heart of a servant and epitomizes the characteristics of compassionate care, support, and outstanding service of others.
These same qualities that April exhibits within our labor and delivery family, she extends every shift to patients and their families. April is an advocate for her patients and consistently provides an exceptional level of quality, patient-centered care. Her attention to detail and vast knowledge of critical level nursing care is a huge asset to our unit and her co-workers throughout all of women and children's services.
April's commitment to performance improvement and exceptional nursing care is demonstrated in her involvement in both hospital and unit-specific committees and programs. She is always eager to orient new Nurses to the unit and precepts with care and enthusiasm. In addition to orienting new labor and delivery Nurses, April is also part of the new graduate nursing mentor program where she mentors new graduate Nurses and offers support and advice during their pivotal first year as new Nurses.
When I think of April, the words compassion, empathy, and service all come to mind. I have no doubt that she will continue to demonstrate these qualities. During the challenging and uncertain times associated with Covid-19, April took this time to spread light and love to others despite the present challenges. April organized a collection within the labor and delivery unit to spread light and support to our fellow units and coworkers. April organized and implemented lunches, dinner, coffee, and donuts to be delivered to several units, starting with those most impacted by the pandemic, and the EVS staff during the weeks of the Covid-19 crisis. This act of service and support for her coworkers is just a small example of the ways April consistently shows compassion and support for others and connects the Clatanoff team with units all over AAMC through service. We are honored to have April as a coworker that advocates for our patients and our unit.
