Today marks the 25th day that my mother has been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of the 25 days, my mother has been in CCU for 16 days on the vent. Today was tough, the nursing staff has done all they can do to take care of her and we were advised that there is nothing more they can do for her. I spoke with April concerning my mom's condition. She allowed me to ask questions, even difficult questions, and provided an answer without hesitation. She showed compassion, empathy and even showed a little emotion and cried with me! The few tears that she shed for my mother and me proved to me that she felt true sympathy for my mother and my family. It also showed me that she deeply cares for her patients from the beginning until the very end!

Thank you, April. Your compassion and empathy comforted me during a very difficult time and helped me grieve my mother's illness. Knowing that my mom was cared for by such a wonderful nurse made me feel like she has been with family since her hospitalization, even when her family couldn't be there.
