Aracely's commitment to her patients, the transplant team, and to Lahey is unparalleled. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of patients during the OR. She is meticulous and prepared, and her dedication to patient advocacy has prevented several near-misses.
Aracely has been a part of the Transplant Team in the OR for many, many years. She has gone above and beyond to keep the Living Donor Surgeries staffed and running smoothly when faced with dire staffing conditions. She comes in on days off and at early hours of the morning to make sure the surgeries go smoothly. If it wasn't for Aracely's hard work and dedication the OR Transplant Team wouldn't run as smoothly as it does. She is indeed an asset to the team.

Aracely is the service leader for implants; she keeps our call schedule organized, she is available for anything anyone of us may need, and she keeps us sane! She is amazing with both staff and patients.

***

Acting as the Team Leader of a very demanding Transplant Team, Aracely always goes the extra mile and makes sure that the patients are well cared for in the OR. Transplant is a weekend and night sport, and she is always there smiling and making the patients feel welcome and well cared for.

For her years of dedication to the transplant program and her commitment to helping and training other nurses that have joined the transplant team. Thank you Aracely!

Aracely is extremely hard-working and dedicated to the transplant team in the OR. She is always making sure the rooms are appropriately staffed and we have everything we need. She always goes out of her way to ensure a successful day both for the team and for the patient. She is always eager to train new nurses to our practice and welcomes everyone to the team with open arms. She is extremely knowledgeable - not only in transplant but in many areas throughout the OR. There have been many days that I've called her at home to ask her a question about something in the OR. She has almost single-handedly kept the nursing portion of liver transplants afloat with very minimal staff at one point. She cares deeply about her patients and always ensures their safety and care. She is an exceptional nurse with over 17 years of experience here at Lahey, and it shows. I am grateful to be a part of her team.

Aracely has been the foundation and rock of this team. She cares and supports her team members at all times. She is extremely knowledgeable not only in Transplant but other services as well, and is constantly Precepting with humble grace and integrity.

***

She has worked long hours into the night after a long days shift with a smile on her face and loving compassion for her patients.

***

She is always there when we need her for guidance and support and sometimes to talk us back from the edge. She has fought for us on many occasions making sure we have quality of life, work life balance and respect from our fellow peers. Often times impeding upon her own quality of life so that we may have some time off or a holiday off etc.

Aracely has selflessly taken multiple hours/days of call so that our team is still a team and team members do not get frustrated and quite do to so few members and shortage of staff. Time and time again she has been and is all about the team and the team players no matter what team. From the operating room staff to the surgeons, Sicu, Pacu, anesthesia to the Patient. She is by far one of the smartest, caring nurses with integrity that I have had the privilege to work with.

Aracely is the epitome of professionalism. She is the leader of the OR nurses and surgical tech for a busy transplant service. In my opinion, the transplant service would not run in an efficient manner if Aracely didn’t come to work every day, show leadership, compassion, as well as the attention to detail required of a leader. She is an exceptional nurse who goes above and beyond at every turn. I have not met many people more deserving than Aracely for this award.

I have known and worked with Aracely for 21+ years. I have seen her progression from a new Periop nurse to an expert OR RN who is a leader in the Hepatobiliary/ Transplant service. She is an expert in the care of the transplant pt as a circulator and can scrub any case in that service. She is an excellent preceptor.  As the charge RN, I am always happy to see Aracely on the schedule as I know without a doubt that she can care for any pt that comes through the door and will give the best care she is able to give.  Several times, I have requested her to be part of the team in the room when a family member of mine has needed surgery. For the above-mentioned and many more reasons, I wholeheartedly nominate Aracely Hardcastle RN for the DAISY Award.

Aracely's commitment to her patients, the transplant team, and to Lahey is unparalleled. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of patients during the OR. She is meticulous and prepared, and her dedication to patient advocacy has prevented several near-misses. Transplants happen at all hours and sometimes require the team to stay up for long hours in a high-stress team environment. Even despite this high pressure, she consistently maintains her composure and professionalism.  She is steadfast and reliable and consistently makes suggestions and enacts plans and protocols to the betterment of patients.  She is also a fierce advocate for her colleagues.  Her willingness to mentor and advocate for junior staff is unsurpassed. She is an incredible asset to the team, the OR, and to Lahey.

Gracias for always putting your patients first no matter how tired and exhausting your day is, gracias for your kindness and dedication to your patients, you deserve it.

***

Always incredibly kind and nice to colleagues and patients alike despite long hours and stressful work.

I would like to nominate Aracely who has been providing outstanding care to the liver transplant patients in the OR for decades now. During the staffing crisis in the OR she has pretty much single handedly kept together the transplant service, which was extremely challenging and she did it with a smile on her face. I could not think of anyone else who would be better suited to receive the DAISY Award this year.

Aracely is always available to help her peers and is actively involved in training new staff members. Aracely always goes above and beyond for her patients and takes an active role in process improvements that revolve around Transplant.

There are numerous specific instances where Nurse Hardcastle provided superior medical care that went above and beyond the call of duty.  The number of instances is too high to effectively capture here.  Aracely has been working with the transplant surgery OR team for over 10 years now.  She is a stalwart member of the team who has the unerring capacity to find her functional center in extremely challenging clinical scenarios.  She simultaneously manages the care being provided, the documentation, and the tenor of the OR.  She has the ability to keep the team on track. The way she conducts herself helps to keep everyone in the operating room focused on providing superior clinical care. The reason she is able to do this, to make the whole OR process work, and the reason she continues to return to this challenging work is that her true north is providing great clinical care. I can attest to the fact that all of the members of the transplant surgical staff breathe a sigh of relief when we know that we will be working with Aracely.
