I have worked with Arceli for 18 years and have always admired her quiet dignity, compassion, and cheerful nature. I saw her care with such kindness for many oncology patients and loved ones through investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and beyond. A few years ago, Arceli herself was faced with health challenges. I cannot imagine how frightening it was for her. Thankfully, Arceli made a full recovery and didn't hesitate to return to work alongside the team, who loved and admired her so much. She was already an excellent nurse, but she now brings an even greater understanding of the many battles faced by patients. Very recently, I watched her speak quietly to a young woman whose mood was very low due to multiple complications of her disease. Little by little, I could see the lady respond to Arceli's kind and gentle encouragement. I have seen her work this magic on several patients since her return. She has a special gift of insight to know when the patient needs that little extra TLC. She has a special empathy that most of us cannot fully understand. Arceli is a wonderful patient advocate and deserves recognition. I am confident that my feelings are echoed by all her colleagues.
