It was by far the most extraordinary experience that I have ever had at any medical facility.
A few days ago, I was working as the Unit Support Coordinator on 4C, and Arcelie Miranda was the ANM for the unit. At approximately 3 AM, a Rapid Response was called for ME! My blood pressure dropped below 50, and I experienced a syncopal episode at the nurse's station desk. During this time, all I recall is that the unit team members were running around to get oxygen, a crash cart, rapid response nurse, all at the sound of Arcelie's voice and direction. One thing and one person remained constant - Arcelie Miranda never left my side. She instinctively turned into the nurturing mother hen, protecting me, calming me, reassuring me, while at the same time, I could hear her giving directions to each staff member on what to do. It was by far the most extraordinary experience that I have ever had at any medical facility. As I was coming to in the ER, Arcelie was still there, holding my hand, comforting me, and letting me know that everything was going to be ok in the midst of such a traumatic experience, where any and everything could have gone wrong. She was there. Regardless of any prior issues or circumstances, her first and foremost objective was to ensure that I was ok and that I was not alone. I was just released from the 4D unit a few minutes ago. In addition to my blood pressure medication causing my pressure to drop dangerously low, I had also acquired pneumonia, for which Dr. "A" has given me tremendous care. I cry every time I recall the experience, but Arcelie Miranda was faithful, dedicated, compassionate, and supportive of my circumstances while still maintaining control of her unit and each employee's role in this situation.
