Aretha Daley-Matanis
Aretha is a staff nurse in ICU at Cape Canaveral Hospital. She was nominated by a family member of one of her patients. The family member wrote that Aretha stands out for many reasons. Aretha was always happy when she came in and had a great sense of humor. Aretha walked and spoke calmly and quietly, followed through on everything she said she would do, and was always considerate. She understood that her patient needed rest most of all and she understood what he needed without a lot of conversation (which he appreciated very much). She was respectful of his wishes and suggested interventions to him so that he could choose which he wanted. The family member stated that although he can be high maintenance and quite the personality, Aretha made his stay almost enjoyable and took a lot of stress off both of them.
