My new boyfriend came in with an asthma exacerbation. He was moved to the ICU right at shift change and was quickly intubated upon transfer. Ari was his primary nurse that day. This man and I had only been dating a couple weeks at this point. Watching someone you care about get emergently intubated and receive a chest tube sends a flood of emotions. Especially someone you're still getting to know. Ari was aware of our circumstances and made me feel so comfortable during the uncomfortable circumstances I was put in. Ari worked diligently all 12 hours of her shift. She made sure her patient, as well as I, were taken care of physically and emotionally. She was attentive and showed grace and compassion throughout the entirety of her shift. I appreciate her so much.
