I do not have the nurse's name, but she saved my life for being on my side and not discharging me that day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Research in this patient's chart revealed that the patient had been evaluated by one of the psychiatric assessment groups, who had recommended that he be discharged home with meds and outpatient follow-up. Ari Tavityan works regularly with this population. She felt that this was not an appropriate direction for this patient to take. After speaking with his mother and the ED physician, Ari was able to have the patient held in the ED for an additional day to be re-evaluated the next day. Throughout the night, Ari documented the patient's pacing and restless behavior. The patient was also having visual and auditory hallucinations. The patient was re-evaluated the next day and deemed appropriate for inpatient treatment. He was sent to Spring Valley for the appropriate care. Thanks to this nurse's attention to this member of an often marginalized population, this patient was kept safe and was able to return to functionality.
Ari represents the facilities vision "Patients & Families are our Purpose" and is a true representation of a DAISY Nurse; please join me in congratulating Ari Tavityan!
