I would like to recognize two sisters, Ana Rakipi and Majlinda Holmes, for their extraordinary kindness and empathy for someone in need. They exhibited extraordinary kindness and generosity to a hospitalized homeless patient who also happened to be a patient of mine in an outpatient cardiac clinic. Ana took care of this very nice lady while she was hospitalized. Knowing that the weather was turning cold and the patient lived in a van, Ana gathered some warm clothes and blankets along with some healthy food and gave them to the patient. She did this with the help of her sister, Majlinda, who is also a nurse on our cardiac telemetry unit.
The patient was so overwhelmed with the kindness shown to her that she told me of these angels on her visit to my clinic. I asked if she would give me permission to share their names, and she did. What they did really exemplifies our BayCare values as well as the caring of nurses. They are truly making a difference on a deep level.
This is Ana's 2nd DAISY Award!
