I would like to nominate my labor and delivery nurse, Ariel, for her amazing support during the delivery of my first baby and extraordinary actions in the hours that followed after her birth. Ariel coached me through the delivery every step of the way, which was quite a challenge due to my baby's heart rate dropping at every contraction.
Just hours after my baby was born, one of my first breastfeeding sessions, Ariel returned to find S's mouth turned blue. Ariel immediately called for help and began patting S's back to clear her airway. Thanks to Ariel's quick actions, my baby was taken to the Special Care Unit and received the extra tests and observation needed. S is now being discharged and my husband and I couldn't be more grateful for Ariel's support.
