Arlene Johnson was nominated for the DAISY Award by a family whose son, C, was born prematurely at 29 weeks gestation and spent the first 8 weeks of his life in the NICU. As a first-time mom, C's mom describes her fear, anxiety, helplessness, and hopelessness in those first few days until she met Arlene. Arlene assured C's mom that she had all the tools that she needed to include maternal instinct and the entire NICU staff to answer any questions she had and assist her every step of the way. C's mom describes how through the help of Arlene she found the strength and resiliency during this difficult time in her life and developed bonds that she will forever hold dear and use throughout her life. Today, our NICU graduate is a happy, healthy, headstrong ten-month-old little boy. Thank you, Arlene and the entire NICU staff for a job well done.
