I came into the L&D unit after laboring at home for over 48hrs. My plan was to attempt a beautiful calm home birth, but the universe and my baby had other plans in mind. The charge nurse took me under her wing and helped me when I was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. She helped to speed along the anesthesia process so I could finally get some relief after being without anything for over 2 days. She helped me through each contraction and never seemed annoyed or inconvenienced by me. I knew at this point I was in a really vulnerable place and she helped me feel safe and as comfortable as possible. My birth plans changed but in the end, I am so glad Arlene was part of my birth story. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get this through an intense and unforgettable experience
