What I admire most about Arline is that, at the end of her 12-hour shift, her energy is still magnetic, and she always wears a smile on her face.
I have been wondering if Arline has received a DAISY Award yet. She is a nurse who exemplifies the following characteristics: She shows compassion to her patients. She floats to the ICU, and I have received great comments from our patients that Arline cares for them compassionately. The family has written good things about Arline and feels confident their family member is well taken care of, having Arline as a nurse. She individualized her care to her patients. She includes and accommodates the patient and family’s preferences to lessen their anxiety.
She is a nurse who provides exemplary service. She stays calm and speaks her mind with positivity. She practices safety and makes decisions using sound judgment during critical situations. She doesn’t react; instead, she will always go above and beyond to proactively seek solutions to situations that will help improve the unit and patient outcomes. I have not heard her complaining.
She is committed to providing excellence not only to her patients but also to her peers. She continuously mentors new grads and new staff. Her willingness to share her knowledge, skills, and experience has inspired many of her colleagues. She’s flexible and a great team player. She thinks less of herself as she thinks of her colleagues and her patients more.
Her professionalism at work, ability to collaborate with other stakeholders, and excellent clinical and communication skills make her unique as a nurse. She talks with respect to her colleagues, patients, and leadership.
She continuously develops herself. She has joined the Caring Science and attended all the sessions actively to improve herself and stay resilient and coherent.
She is also an active member of NUC (Caring Council) and does a lot of community service both in and out of work.
