Arlynn is the charge nurse often on 2 West. Arlynn picks up staff spirits with praise and recognition throughout the shift. She works with the unit assignment to keep patient care flowing. A delicate balance of mental health patient needs and staff personalities. Her communication skills allow the flow of vital information between providers, staff, and patients. Arlynn goes to lunch late every day. She sacrifices her time for the betterment of the unit. Arlynn will automatically fill in for admissions and discharges without being asked to keep stress levels tolerable. Arlynn has arranged staff parties for the 3 years I have worked here. Arlynn is now active in the nurse practice council and uses this position to keep night nurses as well as nurses on opposite teams informed on new initiatives, plus allowing these staff members to voice new ideas or concerns. Arlynn is the perfect charge nurse and leader you would want supporting you while at work. I appreciate what Arlynn does. Arlynn does not get the recognition she deserves for all these little and big tasks she unselfishly helps with. Arlynn helps so often that my colleagues and I expect it and forget to appreciate her diligence at work. Patients would also offer high praise if they were allowed more access. A locked unit does not allow for veterans to easily offer more than a verbal “thank you” to Arlynn. Arlynn will always be a DAISY Nurse in my heart no matter if she is ever truly recognized for her over and above efforts to veterans and staff.
