My father was treated in your emergency department and subsequently transferred emergently to Northwestern Memorial. During my father's stay in your ED, I had the pleasure of seeing firsthand the care provided by Armando. During my father's illness, I have seen many examples of exceptional nursing care. Armando's care was among the best.
Armando's nursing practice embodied what I consider, some of the core attributes of our profession; clinical excellence, collegiality, and leadership. Armando's ability to assess and intervene in my father's complex clinical situation was beyond impressive. From my perspective, it was evident that Armando was leading the team of providers caring for my father; nurses, physicians, technicians, and transport team. I cannot emphasize enough the leadership I saw in Armando's management of my father's clinical care. He was the lynchpin in the team caring for my father, simultaneously serving as a direct care provider and team leader.
To say that Armando did all of this with enthusiasm is an understatement. A more accurate descriptor of what Armando brought to my father's clinical care is passion. At one point, Armando told my father, "I love what I do". The passion Armando brought to his work was evident as well in how he communicated to my family the unfolding clinical situation, never talking down to us, but using language that was appropriate and understandable to everyone.
I am hopeful that you can provide Armando with the appropriate recognition for what is probably just another day on the job for this expert clinician. I hope also that you and his direct manager fully appreciate what an asset Armando is to your team.
