Arthur was taking care of a post-op vascular patient. On the first post-operative day, the patient's wife fell in the lobby and was sent to the Emergency Department by Rapid Response. The wife requested that the patient not be told, because she did not want him to worry. Arthur respected the wife's wishes, and then called the Emergency Department multiple times to get updates on the wife.
The patient became worried and started asking questions. When Arthur's shift was over, he went to the ED and took his unit's transport phone to the wife who was still a patient in the ED. Arthur facilitated a phone conversation between the husband and wife, so the husband would not be worried. Arthur also coordinated a shuttle to take the wife to her hotel, so she did not have to drive after the incident. The patient was very appreciative of how well his wife was taken care of.

We have been in three different hospitals in the last month, and we have never had such an awesome nurse as Arthur. He must exemplify what nursing is all about—he is patient, informative, very helpful, intelligent, loving and always very caring.
He has a real "heart." Just simply, he is a wonderful man. You are all so fortunate to have him on your staff—there's NONE BETTER! Thank you!
