Art deserves the DAISY Award, as he has demonstrated all of the criteria and more. Art has provided compassionate, respectful care for my mother during her several series of Neurology appointments (he makes the experience of mom's weekly injections as quick and painless as possible, especially because it has to be done in her buttocks...Mom told her story to him about having to get a penicillin shot in the buttocks when she was just a child and how embarrassed and afraid she felt having to show this to a stranger who was administering it, but eventually did and was glad for it later). Art has made a special connection with his patients and myself in my newfound role as a caregiver for my elder mother (addressing all my questions/concerns), and he does a good job educating patients and families. He has worked with me towards meeting patients' and families' goals, especially addressing my scheduling needs, as I work Full-time Day shift and have been running out of PTO. He did his best to accommodate my schedule by seeing Mom late in the day and suggested I try to combine one of the appointments to save me a trip. Art does a good job educating patients and their families in this specialty of care where my mom is seen. Art has earned my recognition as an extraordinary role model for his profession, and he works well with all members of the healthcare team!
