Aryanne had a wonderful relationship with one of our long-time patients on 4 Tower. Every time he was admitted due to his pancreatic cancer and his pain, she would always request to take care of him. They would joke with each other and laugh, and they just bonded well. Unfortunately, this patient recently went home on hospice. Going home, he has been nauseous and only able to tolerate liquids. He had a craving for our orange Italian ices that we have here for patients. A few days after he went home on hospice, the patient’s wife called the unit and asked if we could send any home with her because they were the only thing that he wanted, and the other options that she had tried to buy him at different stores were not satisfying his craving. Aryanne, with the help of her unit clerk, went around to most of the different units and collected any of the orange Italian ices that they could find and were able to make a care package for him. His wife was able to come pick it up, and Aryanne was able to speak on the phone with the patient, and he was very thankful. Aryanne is a wonderful nurse who always goes the extra mile for her patients, and she truly cares about their well-being.
