Asha Thomas received a total of 4 nominations this quarter. She has had a total of 17 nominations since the beginning of DAISY Award presentations here at St. Luke's Sugar Land. One of Asha's patients felt so moved by her care she wrote her a personal letter. Here is some of what that patient wrote:

Asha was the night RN nurse who took care of me two nights following my colon resectioning surgery. She always treated me kindly and gently even though I am hard of hearing without hearing aids which went with my husband at night. What really impressed me was Asha’s concern about my high blood pressure. It was not being controlled by my prescribed medication. Asha told me she was reluctant to but would have to give me another medication if my blood pressure was not 140 or less. Asha took it upon herself to check my blood pressure during a non-prescribed time to avoid giving me more medication. That was a very caring, loving thing to do. This is just one example of how Asha puts health and well-being above her personal needs no matter the lateness of the hour or other things that need to be done. I thank God that CHI St Luke’s employs wonderful nurses like Asha.

Being an employee of Common spirit getting to experience the care and compassion of Asha was extraordinary. She gently pushed me and was there for what I needed. She put up with my pain and was kind and quickly help me get comfortable. I appreciate her kindness and attention while in her care.
