Ashe stayed by my side every moment and offered more compassion than I have ever seen in a healthcare worker.
I came in yesterday for an inpatient abdominal hysterectomy. Last night I was so physically ill. Morphine makes me violently ill. I could not stop vomiting, which was tearing my incision and was so painful! Ashe stayed by my side all night long wiping my face down with a cool washcloth, putting up my hair so it did not become soaked in vomit, rubbing my back, applying pressure on my incision as I vomited for comfort, and moved heaven and earth to get me better which meant calling the on-call GYN in the middle of the night. She stayed by my side every moment and offered more compassion than I have ever seen in a healthcare worker. She finally got the right combo of meds to work so I could rest after 4 failed nausea meds. I woke up feeling so much better, and when I opened my eyes she was right there waiting to make sure I was okay. She was the very embodiment of all that nursing and healthcare are supposed to be about. She absolutely showed her love for her job, and that is truly rare. Best nurse I have ever had the pleasure of being cared for by.
