I was taken ill with severe chest pains and taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department (Resus). My wife accompanied me in the ambulance from my home in. We are both eighty-six years old and naturally, it was quite a stressful time for both of us. To add to the difficulty, my wife suffers from chronic back and leg pain due to a trapped nerve in her spine.
We were taken to Resus in the Emergency Department for my investigation. My wife was given the standard chair to sit next to my trolley. Ashleigh, who was looking after us, realized the trouble she was in and went away to find a comfortable chair from somewhere! This, together with the kind reassuring words and genuine thoughtfulness, helped us at this difficult time.
We have great admiration for all of the nursing staff here who do a dedicated caring job, usually under a stressful situation. We are very grateful for the thoughtful kindness shown to us by Ashleigh who went above and beyond her normally expected duties.
