Nurse Ashleigh and the team were so quick to react to lie me back, give me oxygen and make me feel comfortable.
I attended the Day surgery unit at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby for a steroid injection in my coccyx. I have never been a patient in a hospital before and I had never visited St Cross so I was a little anxious when I arrived. I was made to feel very welcome and relaxed by the staff on the unit so I was not too nervous going in to my procedure. I was admitted by Nurse Ashleigh who kindly explained all that would happen during my time there which put my mind at rest. When I came back to the Ward after my injection I sat down and had a cup of coffee and some biscuits. Shortly after that, Nurse Ashleigh came over to me and asked how I was feeling. I had begun to feel quite light-headed and warm and a bit sick so I told Nurse Ashleigh that I wasn't feeling too well. The next thing I remember is waking up to alarm bells and being surrounded by Nurse Ashleigh and a number of other nurses who were trying to get me on to my bed as I had just fainted. Nurse Ashleigh and the team were so quick to react to lie me back, give me oxygen and make me feel comfortable. I would like to thank the team but especially Ashleigh for the care and attention I was given that day. Nurse Ashleigh checked on me numerous times, checking my blood pressure and asking how I was. When I felt much better I got dressed and phoned my wife to tell her what had happened. Nurse Ashleigh then spoke to me to advise me that I shouldn't really drive home. She spoke to the Porters to ask if I could leave my car overnight so that I would not incur extra charges. The Porters, bless them, waived the car parking fee completely. When my wife came to pick me up Nurse Ashleigh came out to meet her and explained what had happened. Nurse Ashleigh is an exceptional nurse. She helped me greatly in what was a very strange and quite scary day.
