On the afternoon on the day C was born, I took B to Highpoint Health's ER for swelling and sharp pain. After arriving and getting back to the ER room we met Ashley for the first time as our ER nurse. She took B's vitals and realized something was wrong. Knowing B was pregnant and Ashley having years of experience in Labor & Delivery she recognized it as Preeclampsia.
From that moment Ashley never left B's side and made sure she was getting the best care she could. Having her experience from Labor & Delivery she helped make sure the care was proper for baby and mom. Her thinking of the steroid injection helped C not have a hole in her heart or bleeding in the brain. We didn't know how bad the preeclampsia was but knowing now that it was HELLP (the worse kind) time wasn't on our side. Ashley rode in the ambulance with us to UC and prepared B for the surgery on the way.
Once arrived she handed off the charts over and briefed the UC's nurses, who were all waiting on us. Ashley's leadership and the others at Highpoint Health are the only reason C has a chance and they kept B healthy as well. For Ashley it was "just another day" but we commend her for what she has done for our family! Thank you, Ashley!
