I am so grateful that there are nurses like Ashley who go above and beyond to help patients and their families feel supported and cared for when they are going through some of the most difficult experiences imaginable.
My mother was an inpatient at Mayo Clinic when we were told that there was nothing left to do for her cancer. Ashley was my mom's nurse all day on the night we brought her home from hospice, and her care helped get us through that long, scary, and devastating day. She was patient and kind with my mother, spending a lot of time in the room with us and showing genuine care for my mother as a person. She listened to our fears and answered my mother's questions with kindness, being both reassuring and honest. She also made light conversation with us that was unrelated to my mom's condition. Ashley ensured that we had all of the supplies needed to care for my mom at home, and before we left, she told my mom that she would remember her. I am so grateful that there are nurses like Ashley who go above and beyond to help patients and their families feel supported and cared for when they are going through some of the most difficult experiences imaginable.

My wife was admitted with a serious and yet-to-be-determined cause of acute headaches, nausea, spiking blood pressure, and a rapid heartbeat. The lack of closure on diagnosis was extremely stressful to me and my wife. Throughout the process, Ashley was a true professional and compassionate nurse who maintained a steady environment during complex interactions across several care teams. She sensed how to keep my wife comfortable in an uncomfortable situation, and she translated the clinical values and explanations into seamless communication between my wife and me. She was always one step ahead in a complex situation. I am a former Health System CEO, and I know a great nurse when I work with one. Ashley is a gem in the Mayo family.
