Ashley is the most compassionate, caring nurse I have ever met. She was so kind, listened to my story, and kept me well-informed of everything going on.
I want to express my sheer appreciation and gratitude for one of your nurses, Ashley Daffin RN. My brother was transferred to Grant Hospital with a hip fracture and unfortunately had a very unusual complication and passed away two weeks later. After my parents and I changed my brother's code status, he was transferred to the 9th floor where I met Ashley the next day.
I have been an RN for almost 35 years, have worked with many nurses over those years, and have seen my share of death. This was the first time I had been on the other side of things. While my brother's condition was sudden, my family and I knew his wishes. At the time I met Ashley, I was without sleep for 30+ hours. Ashley is the most compassionate, caring nurse I have ever met. She was so kind, listened to my story, and kept me well-informed of everything going on. I am very passionate about giving a bath before someone dies. Ashley assisted me with bathing my brother and gave me the privacy I needed when I wanted to shave him alone. I knew Ashley was busy that day, but she kept coming in to check on me and answering my questions. She never made me feel she was in a hurry to leave the room. Everything I requested was done quickly.
After I met with the hospice nurse and signed him up, I was preparing to leave to go home around 7 pm and get some sleep. Planning to return in the morning. I saw Ashley before I left and she gave me a big hug. I couldn't speak at that time, but we each knew. My brother passed away later that evening.
In my opinion, Ashley is a Florence Nightingale, the kind of nurse who really cares about taking care of people. Because of Ashley, I had such peace about everything. I just wanted you to know what a special person Ashley Daffin is.
