Ashley is one of our Donation Champions and takes care of many of our patients who go through organ donation with Our Legacy. Most recently, she cared for a boy who was in a Motor Vehicle Crash (MVC) while visiting from another state that ended up going for organ donation. The family was unable to be present at the hospital so, Ashley worked very hard to coordinate the Honor Walk. Leading up to the Operating Room (OR), Ashely provided the very best care. She made sure the patient's favorite movie (Star Wars) was playing. Ashley was able to coordinate a recording of the Honor Walk to be sent to the family with other memory-making items. She had the Star Wars theme playing for the trip to the OR. After Ashley got that patient to the OR, she came back to the unit and assumed care for another very medically complex child. She also provided excellent care to that patient by washing her hair, doing her nails, and bringing her to sit at the nurse's station. Ashley provides this level of compassionate care to every single one of her patients every day. She is truly an excellent nurse.
