Ashley has a heart of gold. The care and compassion she has for her patients is truly inspiring. Ashley was discussing discharge instructions with her patient, particularly regarding showering. The patient spoke up and said, "My son and I are lucky to shower once a week." Ashley questioned her and found out she and her 23-year-old disabled son have no home and are living in her car. Ashley searched for a list of resources to give her but couldn't find any on the unit. She continued with instructions and walked her out.

Ashley noticed the back seat was down, and there were blankets and pillows where they had been sleeping. Ashley's heart just couldn't leave it at that. After a few calls to find a list of resources for her patient, the house supervisor called Ashley to have her patient come back. Because of the care and compassion Ashley has for her patient, a comfort survival kit, which includes a variety of necessities, including a resource list for further help, was provided for her and her son.
