I am a registered nurse who works for the Caregiver Support Program here at the GCVHCS. I had a veteran who was transitioning fast and needed to get him engaged with Hospice. I reach out to NP Wesson and within a matter of minutes, she responded and took my case and ran with it. NP Wesson went above and beyond not only to reach out to the veteran's current hospital case manager to ensure all needed documents were in place but she also reached out to the family in their time of need to answer all their questions in order to give them a little peace of mind during this time. One thing I need to mention is that NP Wesson did this way past her duty hours in order to ensure all consults were in place. NP Wesson even went a step further to call the family later on that evening as well as the gaining Hospice facility. I must say that NP Wesson definitely exemplifies the VA core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence in all she does to provide the right care at the right time to not only our veterans but to their families as well in their most vulnerable times of need. NP Wesson exemplifies RESPECT by treating not only veterans but her fellow colleagues as well with civility and dignity when she comes in contact with either one. She gives selflessly of her time and is eager to share her wealth of nursing knowledge related to Hospice with her co-workers along the GCVHCS, who speak very highly of her.NP Wesson exemplifies EXCELLENCE in all she does by striving for the highest quality and continuous improvement for all veterans under her charge. She has excellent customer service skills, and I have experienced this in action firsthand numerous times with our veterans along the GCVHCS. She is very dedicated to her work, and that is why I think and KNOW she deserves this honorable DAISY Award. NP Wesson exemplifies every aspect of what this award stands for. Again, it is my great honor and pleasure to not only work collaboratively with NP Wesson but to also call her friend.
