Ashley came in and calmed him down. She asked him several questions in a calm and compassionate way.
She went above and beyond. My son had to visit the ER after being punched at school and his forehead was split open. My son was hysterical because he was afraid of what they were going to have to do to him. He hates the doctor's office, hospitals, and needles. The first nurse was not very sympathetic and he got worked up even more. This nurse came in and calmed him down. She asked him several questions in a calm and compassionate way. She could tell certain things were going to upset him more and she avoided those words while still being very informative and communicating what was going to happen.
Later I needed to use the restroom but my son was afraid to be alone. She came to check on us and I asked if she would be able to stay while I went. She didn’t hesitate and said “absolutely.” As I was coming back to the room I could hear her chit-chatting with my son. After she left I asked my son what they were talking about and he said "life and just general stuff.” After leaving my son said, “I have never had a nurse that nice that seemed to really care.” As we were being discharged she made sure that myself and my son did not have any questions. She wrote down when and what meds he could take. If we ever have to visit the ER again I hope she is there and is our nurse.
