Ashley Garrett, RN

As the lead volunteer chaplain, I have been impressed by Ashley’s genuine dedication to her duties. What stands out the most to me is the day I was called to minister to a woman who was in her last hours of life. This patient was homeless, she had no one that cared about her, and at this time she was incoherent. Even so, I was impressed to watch Ashley holding her hand and talking sweetly to her. This patient had absolutely nothing to offer to anyone, but Ashley spent time with her, just the two of them. Ashley showed that her compassion and caring were far beyond the call of duty. Ashley also cared for my wife while she was here at WVMC during my wife’s last days. Ashley Garrett brings great honor upon herself and honor upon WVMC. I wish there were a hundred more just like her.
