Ashley is a house supervisor at Lehi and has so many responsibilities during her shifts. Recently, Ashley went the extra mile to help a family create some memories with their child before she passed away. This mother's request was to be able to snuggle her child outside in the sunlight before she died. Ashley took it upon herself to see if there was a way to accomplish this.

She coordinated with the outpatient educators, members of the Oncology Infusion Clinic, and the PICU to develop a plan. This was obviously a time-sensitive plan, and she was able to make it work. She knew the oncology patio would be a quiet and private place to let this family have the moment they desired. Together, she worked to figure out when there would be no more patients in the clinic, and then the clinic charge nurse, Aly, jumped in to clean the patio and even moved an infusion recliner out there to provide optimal comfort for this moment.

Ashley truly is a huge example of leading with compassion and respect and tailoring this patient's care to what they needed, even when the hospital is extremely busy and Ashley already had so much on her plate. Her impact cannot be measured; granting the dying wish of a child and their family is something that will leave an impact for a lifetime. This event could have been the closure this family needed. Ashley, leading with compassion, is often noticed at Primary Children's Miller Campus.
