Ashley Hartjes, RN, BSN
Ashley was my admitting nurse for a prior knee replacement as well as a shoulder replacement, so I guess you could say “we go way back”! There are professions in life that we agonize over - did I make the right decision? Is it a match for me? Well, Ashley, I believe the nursing profession chose you; how could such a perfect match go unrecognized? Ashley represents all that is great about a nurse. She is respectful of privacy, compassionate, and caring. She anticipates questions and is ready with complete, easy-to-understand explanations. I felt that she always involved me in any decisions that had to be made and respected my thoughts. And even though her mind must have been churning with the myriad of tasks ahead of her, she never once appeared rushed.
Ashley is quick to smile and provide comfort. When things did not go quite according to plan - “Man plans and God laughs.” as the proverb says - she empathized and was totally in touch with my feelings. She is a true angel in scrubs.
And now, to Ashley - Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Any patient you cross paths with will be lucky to have you. I, personally, will remember you and your gentle kindness always. You are the epitome of what the DAISY Award represents.
