Ashley Hontz is one of our Lactation Consultants who has been a valuable part of our Maternity team during this pandemic. While our patients came through our Labor and Delivery doors, whether or not they would even be allowed to have someone with them during labor, Ashley was one who reassured them by her calm voice of certainty and provided them with pre and post-operative information on their hospital stay. She reassured a mother- a 4-week pre-term labor patient who is from Ohio, as a traveling nurse helping out at the Pomona Fairplex clinic, that she would be able to pump and store her milk in the NICU, since she was to deliver early at 34 weeks. She reassured her during a most uncertain time, away from the comforts of home. When Ashley has pre-operative appointments, she lets us nurses on the floor know when she will not be able to help our patients. She helps the patients tirelessly when she is not occupied. I am inspired by her efforts, she is a true DAISY Nurse.
