August 2021 Honoree
Ashley Jackson, RN
I had a fracture of the tibia and fibula and a severely dislocated ankle and had surgery. Pain control was difficult. The hospitalist discontinued my IV pain medication. The charge nurse stated he spoke with the pain management nurse, and she recommended the med be discontinued. I was discharged from the hospital to here at RIO. I was still having problems with my pain control, and it caused me to have an anxiety attack and a tearful night. Ashley took it upon herself to phone the doctor at 2 am. She spoke with the doctor and notified him of my inability to obtain an acceptable level of pain. This young lady went above and beyond her normal duties. She comforted me and really demonstrated what an advocate for a patient truly is. She is an angel on this earth.
Also, she is the epitome of what I believe a nurse can be. I could shout out loud what a wonderful and caring nurse she is. I will always remember her and what she did for me. We need more like her in this crazy world. So thank you Ashley for all that you did for me!

Thank you, Ashley, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
