On the early morning of Tuesday, I arrived at The Medical Center Outpatient Admissions Center, with my 82-year-old mother for a "Minor/Routine 5-minute Procedure", as quoted by her physician, to have a Cardiac Loop Recorder implanted into her chest, and we did not know what to expect.
Upon arriving, being processed through admissions and brought to the Cardiac Cath Lab, we were slowly feeling more comfortable of "What's next". Then, we were somehow graced with our nurse, Ashley.
Our family believes Ashley is a DAISY Nurse for her professionalism, safety, compassion and genuine regard towards a patient's dignity, demeanor, and nervousness at such a time.
She, without pause or hesitation, explained repeatedly to my mother and myself what to expect within the next 15, 30, 45 minute intervals to ease this process for her.
I want to share that I have a sibling who was life-flighted to another facility 3 months ago. Our entire family endured many nights of our loved one in the Trauma ICU, moved to an Orthopedic Floor, having multiple surgeries, etc. However, I can say without pause, that our nurse Ashley at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, stands out among all the nurses we encountered.
Again, my mother's procedure, as stated by her doctor, was an "In and Out", however, Ashley made us feel that she was a person having a medical procedure that mattered.
If nothing else, Medical Center of Bowling Green, keep this one!
