Her ability to recognize concerns and respond with reassurance and care reflected both experience and dedication.
I am writing to formally commend Ashley, who works in the Emergency Room at your hospital, for the exceptional care and professionalism she demonstrated. Ashley showed remarkable compassion and empathy for my niece. My niece has an addiction to alcohol; she wasn't very coherent when she was admitted. I think it would have been easy to be dismissive of her in that state. My niece called me while Ashley was nearby and gave Ashley permission to talk to me. Ashley told me they hoped to get my niece to a rehab center and took my phone number so she could get back to me to confirm. I'm my niece's closest relative geographically, and I live three hours away, so it was difficult to be physically present for her. That's why the words Ashley spoke were so important. She was there and got my niece to agree to help.

Over the course of six hours, my niece started to question whether she really needed rehab. I was encouraging her by phone. Ashley kept her steadfast in the choice to get help. It isn't melodramatic to say that Ashley may have saved a life. Without that encouragement, I think my niece would have insisted on going home and would have continued to drink. Ashley was attentive, perceptive, and genuinely concerned about her well-being, which made a significant difference during a potentially stressful time. Her ability to recognize concerns and respond with reassurance and care reflected both experience and dedication. Please extend my sincere appreciation to Ashley and recognize her for the outstanding care she provided. She is a credit to your hospital and a true example of compassionate, patient-centered nursing. Thank you for taking the time to receive this feedback.
