Ashley was our nurse for several days and it felt like we were longtime friends. In a very challenging time, she laughed with us, joked with us, and cried with us.
In our worst life moment, heaven-sent us a nurse angel and her name is Ashley. From the moment she walked in the room, even though she was shy, her genuine smile and caring tone of voice overpowered her timid nature, her passion for nursing and her patience was obvious. Ashley was our nurse for several days and it felt like we were longtime friends. In a very challenging time, she laughed with us, joked with us, and cried with us. Ashley went above and beyond her nursing call of duty and took such great care of my husband.
Ashley's PETALS attributes exemplify what an incredible DAISY Nurse should look like.
Ashley's passion for nursing, promise to do no harm, and empathy for my husband's situation was demonstrated in many ways including her timely response to his pain, he never waited long periods of time for his medicine. When the doctors changed his medicine from morphine to Dilaudid and it didn't help, she called the doctors right away to have it changed back without my husband even having to ask. On one of her shifts (on a day my husband was having a really hard time dealing with everything), Ashley tried to extend her shift until 11 pm just so she could stay to support my husband. She always stayed in his room just a few extra minutes after his pain medicine to make sure it was working. She really listened to my husband and hid concerns, even the long story of how we got to ORMC. When Ashley was his nurse, I had peace of mind, knowing when I had to leave that he was in good hands, I trusted Ashley and knew she would take care of him like I would, as a nurse myself that's a high bar but Ashley managed to meet it. Ashley's attention to detail, communication with us, tome management, and the way she managed up her coworkers she was handing off to, set her apart from any of the nurses that took care of him. We are so grateful to have had her as a nurse.
