April 2023 Honoree
Ashley M Martinez, BSN, RN
My 92-year-old mother fell, broke her hip, and had hip surgery. She is hard of hearing and after the surgery, she had a lot of pain and anxiety. Ashley was amazing and so patient with Mom. She knew exactly what to do and made Mom feel so much better. Ashley went out of her way to check on Mom and to make sure she had her pain meds right on time. Ashley called Mom "Sunshine" and made Mom feel so special. Mom felt safe and secure while Ashley was her nurse and if she could have kept Ashley with her 24/7, she would have. If mom had any needs, questions, or concerns, Ashley was right there to help, take care of things, and make everything okay. Additionally, Ashley made the family feel secure if we had to leave for a few hours. Ashley became "one of the family." Mom even told Ashley that they would have to "do lunch" once Mom is back on her feet. Every time Ashley left for the day, Mom told her she "loved her." Ashley has found her calling and nursing is definitely the right profession for her. Mom, and our entire family, are SO appreciative of her kindness, expertise, and love for her patients and especially our mother!
Thank you, Ashley M, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
